Hello and welcome to my blog

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Janine. The purpose of this blog is to share my knowledge and experience teaching Kindergarten for the benefit of new teachers, experienced teachers new to the grade level and parents who are homeschooling.

I have been working with kids my whole life and have found a lot of fulfillment working with Kindergarten and First Grade age students for the last 12 years of my teaching career. When I was younger, I attended the University of California, Santa Cruz in northern California. There, I worked at a day care for two year olds all four years of college. It was through that experience that I learned to break down skills to their simplest concepts.

After graduation, I moved down to southern California to earn my Masters in Education and Bilingual teaching credential (BCLAD) from the University of California, San Diego. I’ve never left San Diego. It is my home and I love it here. I love the diverse cultures that reside here and I love the communities I serve as a teacher.

On my free time, I enjoy relaxing and listening to audiobooks on my phone. I love to go hiking on the many trails across San Diego County. Coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate make me happy. My favorite hobby is my creative outlet that doesn’t feel like work most of the time: creating resources to upload onto my TeachersPayTeachers store. I started my little shop in the Fall of 2012 and now have over 200+ original products and over 8,000 followers. My heart fills with joy when I think of how many students and teachers my resources have touched or benefited.

I hope my little blog will help me to reach more students, teachers, and homeschool parents as well.
